Back in November of last year I’d announced that my wife, Monica Bey-Clarke, and I were teaming up to begin publishing children’s books for kids of Gay and Lesbian parents. We’re very happy to note that even after the 2010 holiday season, copies of our first publication, a multi-cultural holiday coloring book, are still selling. On the heels of that book we’re excited to share with you a few of the interior pages of Keesha & Her Two Moms Go Swimming, a new a picture book for Baby-Pre-School-age children.

SUMMARY:

This charming book follows Keesha and her two moms for a fun day of swimming at the pool where she meets up with her best friend, Trevor and his two dads.

Keesha & Her Two Moms Go Swimming is a good-natured story that promotes the normalcy of everyday life in LGBT families and relates a universal message about the importance of sharing, being nice to others, and getting along despite our differences.
In addition, Keesha & Her Two Moms Go Swimming upholds gay and lesbian unions, encourages early childhood literacy, builds self-esteem, and reinforces the morality already taught in the home.

Multi-Cultural Holiday Coloring Book for Children of Gay and Lesbian Parents!

Hello World!

I’m starting to get into the holiday spirit, are you? Actually I think I’ve felt myself slipping into a cheerful “food, fun and family” mode a few weeks ago! Of course, in the midst of all of that I’m still working, however and I’m really excited to announce a new project: a children’s coloring book. This book, My Family! A Multi-Cultural Holiday Coloring Book for Children of LGBT Families is a first edition volume of line art that features a wide variety of cultural and religious aspects of same-sex families and their celebrations.

Coloring book for children of gay and lesbian parents

Some time ago when my wife, Monica Bey-Clarke, and I were going through the process of becoming licensed foster parents in New Jersey we became very frustrated with the lack of books available for children of gay and lesbian parents. There are some wonderful titles currently available such as Heather Has Two Mommies: 20th Anniversary Edition and And Tango Makes Three, but generally speaking, there is still a huge void for different types of books for kids of all ages. So, we recently decided to step into this arena and attempt to fill to this void. This will be the first of many Gay and Lesbian family products we will be releasing over the next year or so under the name, "My Family!™"

Below are a few sample images that are included in our first publication, My Family! A Multi-Cultural Holiday Coloring Book for Children of LGBT Families which will be available for sale for $2.99 through Amazon.com beginning the second week of December 2010 (and through bookstores next holiday season and beyond). It’s our hope that this book can be used to give children of same-sex parents a sense of normalcy, while promoting the celebration of our differences and the importance of family values.
